| This report is a result of a contract between Ifremer and the French Ministry of Industry. The aim was to provide map the fisheries activity and landings for french fishing vessels, located in the Eastern Channel and the Bay of Biscay during the year 2005. Two areas have been selected: - the "Eastern Channel" area, including 7 administrative departments : Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Somme, Seine-Maritime, Eure, Calvados and Manche. - the "Loire-Gironde" area, including 4 administrative departments : Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Charente-Maritime and Gironde. |

| Ce rapport fait la synthèse des travaux réalisés en 2008 et en 2009 au cours du programme Selecmer. Celui-ci, réalisé à l'initiative des professionnels de la pêche en partenariat avec l'Ifremer, avait pour objectif de travailler à améliorer la sélectivité du chalut de fond qu'ils utilisent afin de diminuer les rejets des individus hors-tailles1, en particulier pour le merlan, tout en limitant les pertes commerciales immédiates. Une première phase a consisté à tester l'efficacité de fenêtres à mailles carrées. La deuxième phase a eu pour objectif de développer une grille sélective. | In the framework of the future application of a zero-discard policy in EU fisheries, this thesis aims to develop and implement an efficient and integral waste management both on board the fishing vessels and in land (fish auctions and fish processing industry). To this end, it proposes a compaction operation able to reduce the volume and the water activity of the fish wastes, thus favouring their handling and reducing the economical costs associated to their transport and storage. | The technique of otoliths fluoromarking has been used to evaluate at a large scale the practices of brown trout (Salmo trutta L.) stocking (540 000 - 570 000/year, most of them as sac fry) for three cohorts 1994-95-96 in a part of the River Doubs having a length of 40 km and fragmented in three zones (upstream, median, downstream) by three hydroelectric dams. For each of the three cohorts, there is a rather high contribution (23 to 60% according to the zone) of the stocked fry to the automnal 0+ standing population. | As part of a larger project financed by the European Union programme "Community initiative PESCA" on the study of "small scale fisheries" in Aquitaine (France), an estimation of the stock of clams in the Bassin d'Arcachon has been conducted. A two-stage stratified random sampling survey has been designed. Samples have been collected using a Hamon bottom sampler in 237 locations distributed over 24 km2. The clam Tapes philippinarum, which appeared in the basin following a series of aquaculture experiments in the mid eighties, is now the main species accounting for more than 90% of the abundance and the biomass, largely overcoming the European species Tapes decussata. | The exploited stocks of wild bivalves (common cockles, dog cockles, clams, and spisules) in the Norman-Breton gulf vary according to the fishing activity and the environmental conditions. Different studies, carried out by the Ifremer in this region (between 1982 and 1998), enabled the evaluation of the stocks available for fishing as well as the collection of data on these species (demographic structure, growth...).
